It is Friday and you know what that means:
- Thomas P.M. Barnett, a UW-Madison graduate, wrote a piece for Esquire entitled “10 Reasons Why Sanctions on Iran Won’t Work.” I found number 1:”The ‘revelation’ of a second nuke site is no diplomatic game changer.” and number 10: “In the end, Iran is correct to pursue the bomb.” the most convincing.
- October is apparently National Cyber Security Awareness Month
- Menzie Chinn wrote an interesting piece “The Dollar in Doubt?” that I recommend checking out.
- I wrote awhile back about the execution of an innocent man in Texas. One of my favorite blogs, Volokh Conspiracy, alerted me to a recent development. It appears Texas Governor Rick Perry is attempting to cover-up the fact that an innocent man was executed on his watch (at least until his re-election race is over).
I would also like to encourage you to begin writing for LaFlog. I know (for first-years, at least) we have quite a few topics that I’m sure we would appreciate input on (i.e policy memo ideas, paper topics, etc). I am sure second years have even more (internship stories, advice, input on assignments). Policy news is also kicking and we would love your opinion on the blog. Click Contribute! to learn more. If you’d like to be a regular contributor or editor, contact me (sjfredericks @ wisc.edu) to set up a schedule. This is a space for us as students, so use it! We are open to all kinds of ideas.
