Emergency Election

Due to a recent resignation, the La Follette School Student Association (LSSA) Executive Board now has an immediate vacancy for our Fundraising Coordinator. Under the requirements of the LSSA Constitution, we are now accepting nominations from all students for candidates to fill this position for the remainder of the current term. The successful candidate will be elected through a special election. A description of this position and a timeline for the special election are found below. Students from both the First Year and Continuing cohorts are welcome to run for the Fundraising Coordinator position. However, if the elected person is a student in the First Year cohort, this person will not be able to officially begin their duties on the Board until December 18, 2009 per the requirement that all board members other than the First Year Coordinator have successfully completed nine credits of La Follette School coursework.

The Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for planning activities and events with the primary goal of raising necessary funds to cover the costs of graduation as well as any other activities approved by the LSSA Board. The Fundraising Coordinator is expected to develop clear initiatives individually and in conjunction with the Board to contribute to this goal. To provide this position with additional support, a Fundraising Committee may be convened by the Fundraising Coordinator who would also serve as its Chair.

If you are interested in running for this position or nominating another individual, the timeline for the special election will proceed as follows:
– Nominations Accepted: Monday, November 23 to 5:00 p.m. Monday, November 30
– Nominees will be notified of their nominations on Monday, November 30 and will have until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2 to accept the nomination and prepare a candidate statement.
– Elections Held: 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 2 to 5:00 p.m., Monday, December 7. All students are permitted to vote in this election.
– Election results will be announce in the evening of Monday, December 7.
